We are always on the scene helping with emergency situations.

We treat all kinds of trees too.

We treat them to help them grow big and strong and we treat them for worse things, like infections of Emerald Ash Borer. But we have a few surprises too. Did you know we offer organic mulch? Our subsidiary, Organic Solutions, Inc. offers high quality organic mulch and mulch delivery. It's our way of being environmentally responsible with all the trees, tree limbs and tree debris we are in contact with every day.

Field and brush mowing is another service we have started offering that has been very popular.

No more overgrown weeds and grasses on the side of roads and parkways. It is really unsightly and makes the village or city look very unkempt. What's Been Killing Glenview's Trees?

The Village of Glenview is not alone. Countless cities and trees in Illinois have been and still are at risk of certain death. Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is on the prowl and your trees could be next.
EAB is a small beetle that is metallic green in color. It is thought that these beetles came to the USA from Asia in packing material...and they've been terrorizing ash trees ever since. Adult beetles are only about 1/2 inch in length. EAB love ash trees. It is the only tree they attack and by attack I mean kill. Depending on the size of your tree EAB will kill your tree within 1-4 years.

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) strikes again. We've been busy tree shearing for the Village of Glenview's ash trees affected by...

You'll know if you have EAB by the D-Shaped holes you'll find in your tree. These are called exit holes that they make in the spring when they emerge. You may also see more woodpecker activity around your trees when you have an EAB problem. Woodpeckers love to make a meal out of EAB larvae.

There are a few preventative measures you can take to keep EAB from entering your property of village. One is very simple. Don't move firewood! If you have stacks of firewood, just leave them where they are at. You rustle the firewood, you awaken the beast. You should also check with your state as many states have EAB quarantines that forbid firewood movement.

Preventative tree care is another step to take in the prevention or control of EAB. In many cases, preventative or corrective maintenance is the only option. To control EAB a solution is injected into the tree. Therefore, any part of the tree that is still receiving water from the root system will also receive the treatment solution when we inject the tree. Any area that the treatment solution reaches will kill off an active infestation in that area. Once the beetles are killed, stopping further damage, then the tree can begin its repair process. Do you know when it's time to spray your ash trees for EAB?

Unfortunately, many times the tree can not be saved because the damage is too extensive. If a section of the tree is completely dead before treatment begins, there is nothing that can be done to bring it back. If more than ½ of your tree is already dead, then it is recommended to hire a professional tree service to have your tree(s) removed. 90% of EAB's life cycle is within the tree which makes it really hard to identify until it is too late in many cases.

For this reason, it is best to have your trees inspected every year by a seasoned professional, preferably a Certified Arborist from a reputable tree service. At Trees "R "Us, Inc. we take EAB very seriously. Our Arborists are on the scene inspecting ash trees and creating treatment plans for these trees on a regular basis. They've seen so many of these cases that there is no guess work as to what the treatment for the tree needs to be. If you are local to the Chicagoland area, and either suspect an EAB problem or know you already have one, give us a call. Our professionals will give you honest and sound advice. We also offer preventative treatment measures for your trees through our Plant Health Care Division. We can be reached at 847-913-9069 or visit us on the web at

This is why hard hats are required when we work!

Tree work is a dangerous job. The potential for harm is high. In fact, Forbes lists work where tree climbing is involved as one of the deadliest jobs in America!
In addition the Tree Care Industry Association agrees that tree work is very dangerous, but it doesn't have to be and that is why you hire a professional tree service to complete the tree work you need done.

Tree work is a dangerous job. Leave it to the pros. Leave it to Trees "R" Us, Inc.!

As you can see from the video, there are a host of things that can go wrong at any given moment. It really takes, not one or two tree care professionals that know how to safely climb, trim and remove trees, but instead it takes a whole team. And, that team has to have safety as their number one priority. They need to be able to communicate, have experience is stressful situations, and know safety techniques as well as they know tree care and maintenance.

As a homeowner, village official, or commercial manager, most times it is up to you to decide when a tree needs to be assessed by professionals.

Are your trees dying? Dying trees that are not in danger of falling on people or structures can be allowed to die in place without human intervention. Old dead trees also serve as places for various species of wood peckers to find food and a place to nest.

On the other hand, if you want to try to keep the tree as long as possible, you can usually be maintained by cutting out all dead or diseased portions and watering deeply when needed. Unfortunately continually removing dead wood is expensive and sometimes neighbors are concerned about the possibility that the tree may fall on their property. Trees provide shade and climate moderation, hold soil in place, help keep air and water clean, increase property value, provide beauty. To decide whether to remove a tree, a number of questions need to be asked, the pros and cons weighed. Unless you are a certified Arborist you probably don't have enough knowledge or experience to make these decisions correctly. This is where the pros come in! There are some things that just should be left to the pros and this is one of them.

Don't risk making the wrong decisions. And, don't risk doing the work incorrectly and causing harm to your tree or worse, to yourself or others. Let's remember, this is not tree climbing from when we were kids. This is dangerous stuff. Be cautious. Let a professional tree service help you get the job done right.

Hazardous Tree Removal & Storm Damage in Briarwood

June 2015 needs to be laid to rest. I just heard a news report that Illinois had the wettest June in the entire nation. Enough with the rain! With rain comes storms and violent weather. We've had a busy month with storm clean up, hazardous tree removal and tree assessments of storm damage to trees.

Briarwood, Illinois was hit pretty hard. We were on the scene to help with the tree debris from the storm and complete some tree removals because the damage to trees was too severe to salvage the tree.

Summer storms can be very scary and threatening. It is not uncommon for tree limbs to be thrown through windows and crash through roofs. This, obviously, creates a hazard to people and property. But, don't fear, our specialists and on-staff Certified Arborists are trained to deal with the aftermath of
any brutal storm.

Even the seemingly lightest storm can cause major issues for trees and a great deal of stress for the homeowner. Allow Trees "R" Us, Inc.  to help remove this unnecessary stress...and your trees too!

Difficult tree removal is our specialty, however our main goal is to protect and nurture trees to an old age, but we must be prepared for the inevitable. Our crews will carefully dissect and remove trees when required.

If you don't have extensive tree damage, after storms like the ones in Braidwood, Illinois, we can guarantee you still will have a significant amount of tree debris. We can clear any debris from a site and make the necessary repairs to trees in order to make things look as close to the way they did before the wind or storm damage occurred.

Prevention is really the key to keep you, your loved ones and you property sage. Since we can't control mother nature, we can try to control which trees may fall! Recognizing these potential hazardous trees and taking proper corrective actions can protect property, save lives, and help protect you from legal issues.

If you have large trees on your property that you feel could fall in a wind storm, or from saturated soil conditions, Trees "R" Us, Inc.  can help prevent storm-related damage by removing, thinning or cabling these problem trees.

We will evaluate the tree's condition, tree species, size and location before offering the right solution for that tree.
Our hearts go out to the residents of Briarwood. But, know your trees are in good hands and we are looking out for your safety and the health of your trees.
